Trauma doesn't go away on its own. But healing is closer than you think.

When trauma controls the story, daily life feels impossible. Sleep disappears. Relationships suffer. Children act out in ways that don't make sense. Adults feel stuck in patterns they can't break. And too often, the help available doesn't reach deep enough. Gateway exists because families in Central Illinois deserve something better — care that actually works, delivered by people who genuinely understand.

We've walked alongside hundreds of families. We're ready to walk alongside yours.

Gateway Family Services of Illinois is a trauma-specialized, equine-assisted, and nature-based mental health organization serving Central Illinois. Our approach is grounded in Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics — one of the most respected trauma frameworks in the world. We don't just offer therapy. We offer transformation.

Finding the right support shouldn't feel like a second job.

Our free resource hub connects families in Vermilion and Champaign counties with local providers, developmental milestones, and Touchpoints guidance — organized by your child's age from prenatal through 5 years.

Resources by age (prenatal–5)

OT, speech, PT, mental health, Early Intervention, WIC, lactation, pediatricians, car seat safety, and more.

Devoted Dads

A free resource for dads who want to know what's happening in your child's brain and how to respond — at every stage.

You served. Now let us serve you.

Veterans carry invisible wounds that standard mental health treatment often doesn't reach. Gateway's veteran services are trauma-specialized and relationship-based — including trauma-focused equine-assisted psychotherapy, EMDR, and nature-based approaches that meet you where words run out. You don't have to explain yourself here. We already understand.

Be part of someone's story.

Gateway serves families regardless of their ability to pay — because a financial crisis should never stand between a family and healing. Your gift makes that possible.

You didn't get into this field for an ordinary job.
Neither did we.

Gateway is a one-of-a-kind clinical environment — rooted in the barn, grounded in science, and built on the belief that real healing happens in real relationships. We're looking for hungry, humble, and smart professionals who want to do the most meaningful work of their careers.

The first step is the hardest.
We'll handle the rest.

There is a waitlist — and we're working hard every day to address it. What we can promise is this: reaching out today secures your place, and we won't leave you standing alone in the meantime. Resources, support, and a team that genuinely cares are available to you right now.
